The Portland Metropolitan Expo Center

2060 N. Marine Drive, Portland, Oregon. 72,000 square feet will be home to the 2008 Convention with ample parking, concessions on site, air conditioning throughout the event. Parking: The Expo Center charges $7.00 per day to park with no in and out privlidges. For guests of the Red Lion Jansen Beach parking is free and a shuttle to the Expo Center is provided.

Overnight parking at the Expo Center is permitted for self-contained RVs in the "Boneyard" lot, however no electrical service or water will be available.



DIRECTIONS

Portland International Airport to the Expo Center:

Follow Airport Way East from the Airport to N.E. 122nd St. Turn Left on N.E. 122nd and travel ¼ mile to Marine Drive. Turn Left on Marine Drive and travel West for approximately 7 Miles. Cross over the top of I-5, continuing on Marine Drive West and the Expo Center is the first buildings on the left. The Convention is in Hall D. To get to the Host hotel, go one exit north on I-5, follow the signs to the Red Lion.


From Red Lion Hotel Jansen Beach to the Expo Center:

Start out heading northwest on N Hayden Island Drive towards N Center Ave. Drive for 0.1 miles; turn left onto N Center Ave. and Drive for 0.1 miles. Turn left to get on I-5 S towards PORTLAND. Drive for 0.5 miles. Take exit number 307 towards Marine Dr./MLK Jr. Blvd./OR-99E. Drive for 0.2 miles, keep slight left at the fork towards ramp towards I-5 S / Marine Dr. West / Expo Center. THIS IS THE FIRST EXIT SOUTH OF THE RED LION HOTEL. Drive for 0.1 miles. Turn left onto N Marine Dr. Drive for 0.3 miles.

Thursday ~ August 14, 2008:

Evergreen Aviation Museum Tour * 10 am - 4 pm: Departs the Expo Center lobby at 10 am - arrives at the museum at approximately 11 am. Where attendees may choose to be part of a guided tour, or may tour on their own. This museum houses the one and only "Spruce Goose" (HK-1 Hercules), designed and constructed by Howard Hughes and his staff based on the idea of Henry J. Kaiser, builder of Liberty Ships. The Spruce Goose is so massive there is a B-17 parked under the tail of it! The beautiful building is filled with many rare airplanes as well as Military Vehicles. DUKW Regatta & Reception * 5 pm - 8:30 pm: Depart the Expo Center at 5 pm to assault the river and return at 7 pm to a private reception including appetizers and a cash bar. Bring a jacket to be sure you stay warm while maneuvering the breathtaking Columbia River in a WWII DUKW! Liability waiver and advance tickets are required - $25.00 per person. Get "quacking" and sign up early, this event will sell out!


Friday ~ August 15, 2008:

Fort Vancouver / Pearson Air Museum Tour * 1 pm - 3 pm: Depart the Red Lion at Jansen Beach at 1 pm and spend a few hours exploring the Pearson Air Museum, located at Pearson Field at Fort Vancouver (WA), one of the nation's oldest operating airfields. Learn about the aviation milestones that have occurred at this small field since 1905. Step into the pre-WWII Army Air Corps hangars and immerse yourself in Pacific Northwest aviation history! Saturday ~ August 16, 2008:

The Vancouver Farmers Market Trip * 1 pm - 3 pm: Departs the Red Lion Jansen Beach at 1 pm and shuttles guests to the famous Vancouver Farmers Market (open Saturday and Sunday) where visitors can find local treasures including gourmet ingredients for their favorite recipes, original works of art, or something special just for them! Join this tour and discover the difference local freshness makes while enjoying the gorgeous Pacific Northwest weather at the al fresco market. Shuttle tickets* are $5.00 per person - advance purchase required.
