October 12, 2013 – Lesterville, Missouri

The 100 Mile WWII Missouri Convoy is an annual event designed by and for the WWII re-enactor and military vehicle owner so that they may enjoy their historic vehicle beyond the confines of the typical reenactment. The event typically takes place within a 50 mile radius from the center of the beautiful St. François Mountain Range. With a bit of imagination one can fancy themselves driving thru the Hurtgen Forest or the Ardennes in the fall of 1944. Timing for the convoy has been chosen with care, not to hot or cold and you can look forward to the fall colors during the Columbus Day Holiday weekend.

Fellow AC’12 Participants,

Can you believe this!!!! A month ago or so we were already making our way home from DC and some of us were likely home after our 10,000 or so mile total ride. Two+ months ago we were ready to launch from DC. Time surely does fly.

Please see the link below for the wrap-up note. You can also download order forms for the merchandize that we spoke about at our banquet in DC.

To our MVPA BoD: I want to tell you how proud I am of every single person who registered to join this great Convoy. Some folks ended up not being able to join us but I am sure that they were more than a little disappointed. We wish they could have been with us … but there’s always next time. For the 80 or so teams and around 150 people that did join the Convoy, I can only say that we lived our MVPA motto … “HISTORY IN MOTION” – and did it as a team. We hope to have a large contingent at the Portland Convention next summer so please take the opportunity to talk with our team about their experiences. These folks will be easy to spot – they will be the folks with the “I’ve been on a 4,109 mile Convoy in BC, Yukon and AK” smile on their face! Some may even have a combo smile – the TMC’09 / AC’12 “I’ve done two of these Convoys” smile. Art Pope will no doubt have the super-sized combo smile – the Rondevous’92 / TMC’09 / AC’12 “I’ve done all 3 Convoys” smile.

No Lamar, I don’t know how many days until the next First Gear – but it has to be soon, right?

Thanks,
Terry A. Shelswell, P. Eng., MVPA # 13957L
