A Proud Member of the MVPA - Steve Carlson MVPA #1980 of Cazadero, California emailed the following after receiving his 30-year pin: Today has passed and the shock has finely worn off. I have been a member of one of the two major political parties and the N.R.A for almost fifty years. Never has anything been sent to me without a "Gimmie Letter " asking for more money to further the cause. The joy of receiving this pin, with no strings attached, showing my support for the past thirty years, reminds me of the feeling I experienced when my 1940 White M3A1 Scout car started up the first time after I bought it. When the engine roared to life after all those years and ran so well...that's the feeling this pin and no "Gimmie Letter" feels like.

Can’t believe it’s been 25 years already! These 25 years have been a very rewarding experience and I hope that the organization will continue for many more years. ........Again, thank you for the beautiful pin.

What is this MVPA Organization? John Varner stated in his May 2008 editorial. We are all the MVPA. Like other organizations, some members work harder than others. Many enjoy fruits of their labors without giving much back, and that is the natural order of any organization. So how can you improve the MVPA? .....One way is to recruit a new member to join the MVPA. We need strength in numbers to help our lobbying efforts against laws and policies, which adversely affect HMV ownership. As a bonus to keeping your organization strong you get a gift for recruiting a new member or a former member who has not be active for five or more years. Just tell your recruited member to let MVPA-HQ know your name and we will send you notification of your recruitment and gift details .

MVPA Affiliates get a $5.00 rebate for each of your members that join national. This includes first time members or those that have not been active in five or more years. To get your rebate make sure they do one of the following: 1) If joining by mail - put you groups name on their application. 2) If joining by phone - tell the gals at MVPA-HQ what affiliate they belong to. 3) If joining via the MVPA website - ask them to choose “Affiliate Group” on the first question “Where did you hear about the MVPA?” At the end of registering, in the comments section, they must include the name of your affiliate so we know where to send the rebate.

MVPA Affiliate Members, is their a “Pending” posted on your groups listing in the back of this Supply Line? The “Pending” is because your affiliate update form has not been returned to MVPA-HQ or one or more of the officers listed on the update has not paid their 2008 dues. Ask your President to take action in getting your 2008 affiliation completed so your listing will not be dropped from the next Supply Line.

Post Free Classified Ads on the MVPA Website! All active members can post classified ads on the “Bulletin Board“ section of the website at www.mvpa.org. While you are there check out the other forums. See the latest MVPA and Affiliate News and share information with fellow MVPA members. Did you know by posting interesting information and questions you can help increase MVPA membership? Non-members can view the Bulletin Board but they can not post until they become a member. Hey MVPA bloggers show them your MV stuff and get them interested enough to join.

Remember, all meals and tours require tickets to be purchased in advance. * There are still a few rooms available at the Red Lion our host hotel. There is NO fee for display vehicles, and you can never have too many MVs at an MVPA event, right?

News from the Winter Board meeting

The MVPA has finished their Winter BOD meeting in Independence, Missouri and the new Officers for the next two years are:

David Welch - President - Vote count 9 to 4
Al Nickolson - Vice President/Past President - Vote count 8 to 4
Tom Wolboldt - Secretary - Vote count 7 to 5
John Pojunos - Treasurer - Vote count 9 to 0

There were many issues and new ideas discussed. The past is now past and the only thing that can be seen out in front of us all is the future. The question for us all now is how are we going to fill the future since we are all in it together!

The new officers and the other eight Board members have a big job ahead of them but they have stepped up to the plate to do the best that they can for the MVPA and the MVPA members.

Now is the time for the members/former members to also step up to the plate. It is your job now to come back into the fold by rejoining or asking how you can help to make the MVPA the best that it can be. Contact a Director or MVPA Headquarters now to find out how you can help make a difference!

MVPA Bulleting Board

The MVPA Board of Directors meeting will be held at the Drury Inn (Kansas City Stadium) 3830 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Kansas City, Missouri 64133. This is less than a mile from MVPA Headquarters. The meeting will start at 5:00 pm on Friday 28 March and conclude on Saturday 29 March from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Late Dues Payment = Postage Surcharge

The 2008 Renewal Notices were mailed 14 September and are due by 19 October: If your dues payment is received at MVPA-HQ after 31 October you will be assessed a postage surcharge for any missed publications you request. The surcharge is on any 2008 Supply Line or Army Motors you miss because of late dues payment, and then request they be mailed from MVPA-HQ.

The per-publication surcharge is $3.50 within the U.S., $4.50 to Canada and $5.00 Overseas. Note: The surcharge is to combat the increasing cost of postage. It cost 400% more to mail publications individually from Headquarters, than in bulk from the printer/mailer. You save money and help balance the MVPA's budget when you pay your dues on time - Your support is greatly appreciated.

MVPA Associate Members Service Award

Attention Members - do you do business with MVPA Associate Members? Have you been particularly satisfied with the service, speed, and courtesy, the quality of products offered or with other aspects of your transaction? Consider nominating that Associate Member for the newly inaugurated MVPA Service Award. Simply send MVPA-HQ a note or e-mail hq@mvpa.org describing why you feel a particular Associate Member is deserving of the award.

Supply Line Ad Rate Increase

To combat rising costs and balance the budget the Board approved a 25% Supply Line ad rate increase, to take effect with the January 2008 issue. The good news is if you are an Associate Member and/or pre-pay for an ad in multiple issues you can avoid the 25% increase and even save an additional 5%. Click here for the new rates.

Pre-pay for 6-issues and save 20% or pre-pay for 3-issues save 10%. Associate Members receive a 20% discount without prepayment or 25% discount with a 3-issue prepayment or a 30% savings on a 6-issue prepay. The multiple full-page discounts are as follows: Run 3-4 full pages for a 30% discount, 5-6 full pages at 40%, and run 7 or more pages for a 50% discount.

MVPA Affiliate Insurance Continued for 2008

It is with great pleasure that I can announce the Board approved the continuation of the MVPA Affiliate Insurance Program! Coverage from this year will be automatically continued on January 1, 2008 for all active Affiliates in the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. The MVPA covered the entire cost of $7500 last year but will ask each U.S. Affiliate to help cover some of the 2008 cost by paying $100 toward their insurance coverage. Affiliate Presidents will receive a notice with their Affiliate Updates, to be mailed from MVPA-HQ in early February.

Affiliate insurance covers only affiliate-sponsored events such as static displays, shows, parades, and convoys. It does not provide individual liability insurance. If a privately owned vehicle is involved in a liability claim, the owner's insurance is the primary coverage, and the affiliate insurance is secondary. If actions of the club are involved in a liability claim, the affiliate insurance program provides primary coverage.

If an event sponsor or venue requires a certificate of insurance click here for the form to be complete and sent to MVPA-HQ. Otherwise all active U.S. affiliated groups are automatically covered. NOTE: If you don't see your group listed in the Affiliate section of Supply Line, it is not active and therefore not covered.
