MVPA'S EXPERT DRIVER AWARDS
July 1997 marked the beginning of the MVPA Expert Driver Program, which is open to all active MVPA members. It was introduced to encourage
members get their HMV's out of the garage and put some miles on them in a safe manner.
To receive the award active members log 25-points in one vehicle by:
- Attending Affiliated Group Meetings and Rallies with a vehicle (1 pt.)
- Attending MVPA advertised rallies with a vehicle (2 pts.)
- Bringing a vehicle to a MVPA International convention (5 pts.)
- Logging the total number of miles traveled to and from an event with a vehicle (1 pt. per 100 miles)
The points should be noted in a driver's log book and verified by a group or event officer then returned to MVPA, Headquarters to be
approved by Art Pope, committee chairman.
The awards will be presented at the next MVPA Convention or mailed afterward to those unable to attend. The award includes a certificate
suitable for framing and a handsome pewter finished pin with the appropriate weight bar attached.
When a member qualifies in more than one vehicle, additional weight bars will be presented with certificates.
When a total of 25 (or more) points are earned in a specific vehicle, and verified by a group or event officer,
an accompanying MVPA member or Affiliated Group official, return the log to MVPA, HQ. A handsome pewter "mechanics" medal with
a weight bar signifying the vehicle traveled in, and a certificate of recognition will be awarded at the next annual convention.
The awards may also be sent to an Affiliate Group presidents (upon request) for presentation at local meetings. Participants that
cannot attend the convention will have their awards mailed after the event.
