The Northwest Parks Convoy (NWP’22)
On August 14, 2022, a large group of historic military vehicles embarked on a two-week convoy through Idaho, Washington and Oregon starting in Kamiah, Idaho, with a round trip back to Kamiah, Idaho, on August 27, 2022.
The National Park Service was established in 1916 to manage national parks, monuments and other historical properties. The young organization embarked on a 1924 campaign to publicize the western National Parks and to encourage visitation. As part of that effort, they designated a 6,350-mile highway loop route that encompassed all of the Parks in the 11 western states. The route was entitled the “The National Park-to-Park Highway.”The NWP’22 Convoy will visit Parks and travel a portion of this Highway.
The Northwest Parks Motor Convoy honors the 1924 establishment of the National Park-to-Park Highway to encourage visitation of the western National Parks. Their motto was, “You sing ‘America’ — Why not see it?”
